The day I got fired, I stopped waiting.

I got fired. One conversation, and the paycheck I had built my whole life around was gone. That is when it hit me: one employer, one signature, and everything could fall over.

So I went all in on working for myself. I tried everything: dropshipping, food delivery, Uber, digital marketing, freelancing. Some weeks the side gigs brought in thousands of dollars. More than the money, I got something I never had before: the confidence that I could earn without waiting on someone else to hand me a check.

It also taught me a hard truth. Most of that was renting my time. Delivery and driving paid, but the moment I stopped, so did the money. So when I went back to a W-2 job, I kept building, this time toward income I own.

I started small. Product research became ecommerce listings. A corner of our apartment in New York became the packing station. My lunch breaks became study time. It was not glamorous or fast, but it worked.

Today the second engine does about $39K a year from ecommerce, resale, and digital marketing. It's not retire-in-Bali money. It's "we can breathe now" money. It's the difference between renting my life and starting to own it.
