Why I turned down a $3K/mo freelance gig.

Trading one boss for another isn't ownership. The math on saying no.

The offer was real. $3,000 a month, twelve hours a week. On paper, an easy yes.

But I did the math the other way: that $3K is rented income. The moment I stop invoicing, it stops. Same structure as the W-2, just with more clients and less healthcare.

Ownership income is different. The boarding room earns whether I'm sleeping or not. eBay resale compounds. Equities grow in the background. Every hour I spend on those is an hour that keeps working after I stop.

I turned it down. The math said no.
